A Special Part of Gabe
Sep. 22nd, 2005 11:33 pm♠
Gabe called. She began by asking for his address, saying that she wants to send the Tree of Life charm back. Monk expresses his regret, telling her that he wishes she would not do that. He suggests throwing it in a drawer, and seeing if later sometime she no longer has bad feelings about it. She said that she does not have bad feelings about it, but that it is because he is angry.
She then makes a very conciliating move indeed, telling him that they had something special, a fling, and that he got a part of her others do not. On the verge of weepiness, he says, "Thank you, hon."
So, even now, Gabe and Monk continue with their roller-coaster relationship. He tells her that it is not about being angry with her, and that he does wish her happiness, but that he is just not up to going to such a secondary role, and that he would prefer the simplicity of his solitary life.
Obviously, this is very unstable. She still wants to talk about her Brit with him, but she also has some understanding about his sensitivity. Who knows how it is going to go? On one hand, he really does fancy the peace of a Gabe-less life, but on the other hand, if she is willing to assertively seek him out and try to be friendly, how can he just throw that away?
