Monk's last bit of dreaming before waking up and getting out of bed included Princess. The girl was lovely with a full coat brilliantly white. She was asleep at the threshold of our door, as Little Bear and Monk were waiting for her to come out with us for the first rounds. She finally stirs to Monk's calling and proceeds to come along.

One of the funny things about the dream is that it seems Stormy Dreamer is still dead in it. Simple Tree had gotten up early and headed out for an appointment. We also may have been in the process of moving, as the hallway was cluttered with boxes and goods, as Monk kicked some of the stuff aside for Princess to come through.

It was good to see Princess again...

[October 26, 2008]

That dream was almost five years after Princess's death. It has been one of the pleasant consolations of life that I have managed to see her pop up in my dreams every once in a while. Which is something of a surprise, since she was mother's dog and we weren't nearly as close as Bo and I were.

It has now been over two weeks since Bo has died, and I still haven't had a vivid dream of him. I dreamed of Princess for the next couple of days immediately after she died. But maybe Bo is still too strong in my conscious thoughts that I haven't truly needed to dream of him. I'm not too worried. In fact, I'm thinking that it will just be that much more moving of an experience when I finally do dream him. Maybe it will make me cry harder than I have yet.

Yesterday morning's rain probably didn't last a minute. Today is the rainy day, as a fine, steady drizzly rain has been falling off and on.

Monk actually enjoyed A Gun, A Car, A Blonde again. He thought he would get one more viewing done before his next package, and he rushed to crank it up to avoid Pop's blaring country & western...

___ ___ ___

NINE MONTHS
A film review by Melissa Martin
Copyright 1995 Melissa Martin

I will truly expect every professional critic to absolutely hate
this movie. It makes no pretenses for being anything but a stupid,
childish, predictable, cliche comedy. The film is awful on that
level.

But if the public loves the film as much as I did, it'll be a
hit.

Looking at this now, I have to admit that I never could have written anything like that at thirteen. I cannot write up to that speed now. Oh, I see that this is very generalized writing and is pretty innocent of the marks of genius or even basic scholarly talent, but at thirteen, she was already better at faking it than I have ever been able to do.

Even as the two fast-talking political brokers banked large profits for three years of minimal labor, it was found, they were exchanging gleeful private messages mocking tribal leaders as "morons," "troglodytes" and "monkeys." "I want all their MONEY!!!" Mr. Scanlon exuberantly e-mailed in the midst of one deal.

-- "Sleaze in the Capitol" NY Times editorial

Still screwing the Indians over raw. It seems like some things never change. Although one presumes that this is more of a bi-partisan game, one doesn't doubt that the Republicans do it better, as that nasty racist attitude comes more readily to the fore.

We're just not really brothers and sisters...
