The Happy Discovery of Leisure Suit Larry
Oct. 26th, 2004 07:14 am~
"The characters in 'Leisure Suit Larry,' they look extraordinarily young with the gigantic breasts -- kind of an ideal fantasy of the 12-year-old."
-- Ann Simonton
Ms. Simonton is a co-founder of Media Watch, a national nonprofit women's organization that has lobbied against violence and sexism in video games. But it was actually that line that convinced Monk to try "Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude." That quote, by the way, can be found in the Washington Post article "Screen Sizzlers: Video Gaming Industry's Hottest New Titles Aim At Generation XXX."
Monk installed the game yesterday. Although this is not pornographically explicit, Monk is rather happy with it, and this may be his favorite escapist game, prefering it easily over the adventure game "SCHIZM."
The game has Larry as a college student, and he essentially just roams around always on the make for the babes. On top of the sexual element, Monk actually enjoys the nostalgic aspect of roaming around the campus.
Earlier, Monk had spoken of how impressed he is with video games these days, thinking back to their Pong predecessor. Lately, as Monk has gotten back into gaming, he has come to appreciate that there is actually a lot more room for advancement. The cartoon graphics are hardly ideal. But it's enough.
Closing on an administrative note, thanks to this addictive game, Monk is behind on his blogging (even as it occurs to him that his blogging life could be seen as another extension of this "Leisure Suit Larry" game...).
