It was nice to get such a cool morning in mid June. It had rained last night in the most wee hours. Even with the window kept closed all night, Monk had to shut off the ceilling fan.

Going out with Little Bear, the grounds were wettened but we weren't soaked. Monk got a nice salacious surprise when he picked up the Sunday paper. A San Antonio lawyer couple have been playing games with law and sex. Monk was particularly struck by the fact that they used a website that he has come across on occasion: adultfriendfinder.com. I guess that must be a good place to go if you are up for some action, so to speak.

Apparently, there is a real question of whether their little extortion scheme is illegal or merely slimy lawyering. At least the paper put nice color pictures of the couple on the front page, in what is surely an informal punitive measure by 'the community' - the blonde wife is a dish, in a mature and sophisticated way.

Political Compassion

Monk caught a little bit of Senator Kerry's wife speaking on C-SPAN today, evidently campaigning to the liberal Democratic base. She was talking about the evils of discrimination and unequal opportunity, and Monk was in one of his moods so that this grates on his nerves - like a rich Heinz heir gives a fuck about the downtrodden!

Monk cynically thinks about how fortunate it is for the Democrats that they will always be able to play this organ-grinder music, just as it has always been played by those who scam the people. We surely don't have to worry about these problems of inequality ever being solved - even with liberals and progressive in power.

Monk thinks about how at least Republicans, until recently, didn't even pretend to care about the losers. At least that is honest. Though, today, even Republicans put on a conerned face for the downtrodden - compassionate conservatism. And it is even more ridiculous coming from them.
