George Will's "Dash of Comma Sense"

"The almost-always-ghastly exclamation point has been rightly compared to canned laughter. F. Scott Fitzgerald said it was like laughing at your own joke."
-- George F. Will for The Washington Post
Hmm, maybe Monk should take it easier on exclamation points? And how about when in conjunction with the cyberspeak "LOL"? Overkill? In brief remarks, extra props may be needed, since there isn't as much context, and so many of us are... a little paranoiac, so as to see negativity or cold criticism even on those rare occasions when none is intended, lol. Of course, Monk also takes some ribbing now and again for his ever-ready use of hyphens.
Well, the quote is from Mr. Will's column today, as he gives some nice discussion on the sense of punctuation.
