Bill Kristol said, "I'm not sure what 'believe in good' means. I'd settle for a commitment to natural rights and to government by consent of the governed."

Well, 'natural rights' is a bit of a tricky concept itself. I suspect, for Kristol (as well as Dowd and just about the whole American middle and upper classes), that entails the right to be wealthy over the labor of others.
