News tweet: "Japanese white-collar workers are already being replaced by artificial intelligence." Ah, hitting the key middle-class demos! ... ... My Bridge cards were delivered today. They came just as I was beginning lunch, so that I had to practice some delayed gratification, which has never come easily to me. But I got around to them. I am content, and I am hooked on hard cases for the cards. The plastic case is kind of cheapy, but it is worlds better than the simple cardboard cases that Bicycle uses. These cases, I think, must now be a must for me. Interestingly, Bicycle doesn't seem to offer cases with their cards, at least not on Amazon, but cases are sold separately. Pi asks, "Does this mean you are over nudey cards?" Hah, not really. "It was a rhetorical question, dear." I only have so much money to play with, and I did want to get some family-friendly decks in my collection. Though, that does raise an issue. I really like Bridge-size cards, but -- "For your dainty lady-like hands!" Please, they are still quite strong hands. "Ooh, I'm so scared. And wet." Uh, as I was saying, I prefer the narrower cards, but companies don't seem to put out any arty or sexy cards in that size. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I really like the arty stuff, and I might just have to accept some standard decks in my arsenal. ... ... Thomas Mann: "There's no problem on earth so tantalizing as the problem of what an artist is and what art does to human beings." [Cambridge Companion to Thomas Mann]
